Lifeguard Bronze Memorial dedicated May 23, 2013
Ocean Beach Lifeguard Station, San Diego CA

After three years of planning and fundraising, the Lifeguard Bronze Memorial was dedicated at 3 pm on Thursday, May 23rd 2013 at the Ocean Beach Lifeguard Station, foot of Santa Monica Street.  Mayor Bob Filner and San Diego City Councilmembers Kevin Faulconer and Lorie Zapf participated along with numerous community leaders, junior lifeguards and lifeguards.  The one hour program featured a wonderful selection musical reflections including Dantes Prayer, Let It Be, bagpipes and remembrances including a Lifeguard Memorial Paddle out.

The public enjoyed the program and unveiling of the 6' 3" bronze statue by local artist Ricahrd Arnold. A plaque was also unveiled memorializing the 13 vicims of the tragic 1918 drowining in Ocean Beach as well as listing those involved in the Lifegurad Bronze Project.
